Meet the Filmmaker

Savvy Lorestani started his film career on the wrong side of the camera. After a year of failing as an actor, Savvy started learning about the production side of things and eventually moved into directing. His first feature film, My Sixteenth Summer (2009) won the Maverick Award at MethodFest (LA), The Indie Award at IndieFest (California), and was nominated for Best International Indie Feature at Okanagan (Canada).  It was also accepted into several other North American festivals and is currently being evaluated by various distributors and sales agents.

Since shooting My Sixteenth Summer, Savvy was hired to produce and direct a live-action trilogy based on the international comic book series, Paula Peril.  The first of the series, Paula Peril and the Mystery of the Crystal Falcon, is currently on sale online and at comic book stores.  Savvy was most recently brought on to produce The Fat Boy Chronicles (due for release 2010), a coming of age feature about an overweight teenager struggling to lose weight his freshman year of high school.

Savvy is currently in pre-production for his next two feature films, Quarterlife Ben and Seeds in the Sand and aims to be in production by March.  His dream is to one-day direct film adaptations of The Little Prince, Captain Planet, and The Legend of Zelda.

Savvy holds a BA from Emory University and an MBA from Georgia State University. When not making films, Savvy works as an organizational development consultant, specializing in professional development and team building.
